InnovaVentures: Coca-Cola Andina returnables, an agile and innovative success story

Coca-Cola Andina and Coca Cola Company, united as a world leader in the beverage sector, determined to increase the use of returnables by their consumers, developed together with Innova360 an in-depth analysis with “Focus on Returnability”, its processes, activities and participating areas of the current model, always under a critical and challenging gaze to optimize and generate value throughout the entire returnability chain.

During this process, materialized in active support from Innova360 through the model InnovaVenture, an exhaustive analysis was carried out of the “Returnability of packaging” incorporating a multi-management look considering 8 managements, including: logistics; operations; customer services; beverage marketing, strategic planning; Coca-Cola Company beverages and Supermarkets, an analysis that led to the “Complete redesign of the returnability process” and give rise to a project that scales the Coca-Cola Company, allowing the discovery and evaluation of new technological solutions for startups, and the generation of important new strategic alliances of great impact.

This allowed not only to glimpse high-quality technologies, but also to advance in the development of pilots with a special focus on facilitating and improving returnability, including new strategic allies and considerable improvements supported by several of the technological solutions identified together with Innova360.

At the solutions level, our open innovation management platform, InnovaConnect, made it possible to make visible more than 53 technological solutions from 4 countries (Spain, USA, Colombia and Chile), of which more than 6 have advanced to the evaluation stage for activation of pilot.

OWO. A big step in the removal and digitization of returnable packaging

One of these pilots is with the startup OWO, oriented to the sustainable service of shipments and product withdrawals, who in this pilot have played a fundamental role through their application that connects people (OWERs) with their neighbors in the removal of returnable containers. This is the first in a roadmap of pilots seeking to increase the consumption of returnable beverages.
