Apex Week, the success of collaboration

Innova360 and Apex Brazil teamed up for a new version of Startout Santiago, a collaboration initiative that seeks to connect Brazilian startups with large corporations in our country. In mid-June, what was thought to have been forgotten after 2 years of the pandemic was achieved... the power to connect, to be present face to face and to be able to share in networking spaces aimed at generating new opportunities for collaboration between different actors.

In record time, they were finalized for a week: +75 meetings with 32 large organizations who received 15 Brazilian startups to learn more about their technologies. Companies such as: Agrosuper, SQM, Minera Collahuasi, Sonda, Entel, Bci, Seguros Sura, Viña Concha y Toro, Banco Ripley, Minera Rayrock, among others, opened their doors generating strategic alliances, commercial agreements and collaboration opportunities. For María Helena Cursino, Managing Director of Pwtech “The week was very useful, very well organized and productive where the companies we met with expressed interest in our solution and we will continue to be in contact with them through online meetings where we will deepen collaboration opportunities since our solution covers a need present in the Chilean market”

Thanks to the Innova360 network of contacts built through different Corporate Venturing initiatives and its presence in the regional innovation ecosystem, it was possible to coordinate the meetings with the indicated representatives of each company, who, being part of the community of our platform InnovaConnect They were able to learn firsthand and in an agile way the value offer of each of the startups in a friendly format that includes video, images, descriptions and attached documents.

Rodrigo Arias, Assistant Manager of Innovation at agrosuper  rescues the dynamics and the well thought of the instance, "having the possibility of having speed dating face to face with a person made it much more valuable. Thinking of everything as an experience and not a series of meetings is what makes the difference, the DemoDay allowed us to network and listen to quality startups, of which we are still in conversation with 3”

This initiative ended with a DemoDay within the framework of a new version of our InnovaDrinks, where with more than 80 attendees (innovation ecosystem in Chile, entrepreneurs, investment funds, investors, corporations, among others) the startups displayed in just 3 minutes all their attractiveness and commercial value before the jury and the attending public. Jamie riggs, industry expert VC, CVC and Startups, John Cifuentes, VP of Clients, Access and Ecosystem of Seguros Sura y Sebastián González, Hispam Director Corporate Venturing & Partnership of Wayra, were in charge of choosing the three winning categories: "Best Pitch", "Best Market Fit" and "Most Innovative Startup" being awarded, Nomoo, Pwtech and Yours Bank respectively. In the words of Sebastián González, “I think that the startups that we were able to see have very interesting models and solutions that are relevant to the Chilean market. This represents a great opportunity from the point of view of local investors, but it also allows these startups to access investors in the rest of Latin America from Chile. For us as Wayra it was a very pleasant experience, and we will surely maintain contact with several of the startups in the program”.
